Inspections/ Maintenance:
I am available to corporations, community groups, banks, and home owners to provide inspection services, help building owners rectify building code violations, and recommend courses of action to repair and maintain existing structures. I am familiar and have worked on almost all building types, (schools, telecom buildings, factories, churches, etc.
Custom Residential Design:
Most of the clients I deal with have researched and collected information regarding a new home. They may have fallen in love with a floor plan or elevation that they have seen in a home magazine, and want to change a few things with the floor plan.
With these types of clients I work to give them what they want. I produce design sketches and models for their review until they are satisfied. Then I produce a full set of working drawings for their builder to pull a permit.
Sometimes a client may have a program, (type, size, and number of rooms), but no idea where to start. They can’t find floor plans or elevations they like and are not sure what they want. These are my favorite type of projects because a unique home can be developed that is truly a custom home tailored to the specific needs of one person or family. The resulting design may be a specific style, but doesn’t look like a chopped up builder’s house with gables thrown in to hide deficiency of design. A few of the houses on my web site fall into this unique category. This is the realm for a real architect, not a draftsman, who has the talent, and experience to pull a program of rooms together to create a beautiful home.
Spec houses:
I provide design services to high and medium end builders as well as homeowners. Most builders have a lot and the square footage of home that they would like to build. Sometimes they have plans and other times they are starting from scratch with just a program and a budget. For these clients I give them a design with their choice of materials and style of home within their budget. I provide a full set of working drawings to pull a permit. The drawings include, floor plans, foundation plans, roof plans, floor
and roof framing plans, elevations, sections, wall sections, beam sizing, and any special details they require.
Additions / Renovations:
With additions, I almost always use the existing style of the house as a guide. If it is a tutor, colonial, or any other style I usually match that style for the addition. When I get an addition I first field measure the entire existing house and draw a set of existing drawings. Then I present designs, maybe one or two, for client review. For presentations I use both models and drawings. Models are easier for clients to read than drawings. At acceptance of the design, I produce a full set of working drawings for permits.
